This week the u19 soccer players provided a nailbiting display of fighting spirit after trailing 3-0 to Mondale at half time – a near impossible situation to recover from. Custodian coach Mr Eben Loffe ( in the abscence of Mr Noeg Williams and Morne’ Kleinhans) took a few calculated risks with rapid substitutions and positional plays in the second half. A beautiful performance and team effort from the boys in Red – Assisted by Fakhrudeen Oliver, Cameron Kleinhans was first to place the ball past Mondale’s goalkeeper. With Nathaneal America following suite – this, after Nathaneal was moved from defense at centre back to left wing and rapidly converted to a striker. Still trailing 3-2 in the last minute of the match, the fight was all but over as the reds were awarded a free kick – the opportunity was not wasted as Cameron Kleinhans delivered a perfect delivery through the Mondale defense line placing the ball just past the left upright and clear in the back of the Mondale goalpost. Amidst the contrasting reactions by Spineroadian and Mondale supporters, the referee whistled sounded within seconds to mark the end of the match leaving the final score 3-3.
