Rugby season training for Spine Road players

Learners showed great enthusiasm to an early call of the 2014 rugby season. A lot of hard yards were put in, during the off-season training camp. The training was based on the team fitness. We started with 7 to 10km road and beach runs.

The first road run started at Lake Side and ended at Kalkbay Harbour – and took approximately 75 minutes to complete. The beach run started at Strandfontein Pavilion to Muizenberg, and back. This set the pace for the 10km mark – and gave the eager players a taste of what was install for them. The gym sessions played a major role in conditioning the players for the forthcoming season.

The guys had to go through regular bleeptest and their fitness level were carefully monitored and recorded. The second Kalkbay run time had an improvement of 20 min. Faizel Daniels finished the run in 25 minutes, while the others finished in 30 minutes. Skills and life skills training also started as the season drew closer.
